Rules and some significant facts about Test Cricket:
- Test matches are played only by the member countries that are fully accredited by the ICC which are presently twelve countries in the world. Test matches are the only format of the cricket game where each team gets an option to bat in two innings in the same match. So here is the list of double centuries in Test cricket that is scored by various cricketers around the world in the Test format of cricket.
- At the present time, the maximum duration for playing a test match is for five consecutive days in the world, but in the earlier times, the duration of playing a test match was from four days to unlimited days.
- Test match cricket was always played during the daytime and during the playing test match, all players wear a traditional white dress and the match was played by the use of the red-colored ball only until October 2015.
- In the history of test cricket, for the first time introducing a day-night Test match format option that was played between Australia and New Zealand on 27 November 2015 at the Adelaide Oval, Australia, in this test the first time used a pink-colored ball which was designed specifically for day/night cricket.
- In test cricket, it is mandatory to bowl 90 overs during each day's play of a Test match but if the players are unable to bowl out their stipulated fixed quota in the all-day playtime due to weather, bad light, or any other reason, then they can be given extra time to complete their quota of a day's bowling.
- If one team is supposed very close to winning the test at the end of a day they can request to extend half an hour of that playtime to the umpires if they agree that any outcome could be achieved in the match they can extend that day's playtime period.
- There is no restriction on the number of bowlers bowled per innings in a Test match, nor there any limitation on the number of overs bowled by per bowler, Any bowler can bowl an unlimited number of overs, But there is a maximum limit to bowl that allows bowlers to bowl only two short-pitched bouncer balls in each over.
- A new ball is available according to the ICC's law for the use of the fielding side team after every 80 overs. The Test match is the only form of cricket in which a match can end without getting any result to win or lose which is called a draw match.
- A Test match draw occurs when the batsmen of the team batting at the end of the fifth day of play have do not achieved the target of total runs which was established by the team that batted first, and all of their players of the team have not been all out.
- Apart from this, for any other reason, due to which both teams have not got the chance to complete their both innings play within the period of five-day play span in the Test match then that Test is declared a drawn test match.
- The inning's declaration is announced by the captain of the team as a strategy of the game when he feels that he has got enough run scores to win the match, and he can be bold-out the opponent team within the score he had scored and there is still sufficient time left for the game to end.
- If the difference of the total score of the team batting in the second innings is more than the 200 runs compared to the total score of the team batted in the first innings. Then the captain of the team batted in the first innings has an option to do not bat his second innings, and he can invite the opponent team to continue to bat again in the second inning. This type of situation is called Follow on in test cricket.
- After awarded the follow-on to the opponent team, the team that batted in the first innings does not lose their right to bat in the last innings of the match, if there is any requirement for the team who has batted in the first innings, whatever the result is the outcome, he can be batted in his last innings.
