Narendra Hirwani was born on 18 October 1968 in Gorakhpur district of Uttar Pradesh where his father owns the business of brick kiln.

His early childhood studies were in Gorakhpur, due to his interest in cricket since childhood, he moved to Lucknow where he was admitted to Guru Gobind Singh Sports College located on Kursi Road, Lucknow.

While staying in the hostel here, he studied and gained expertise in cricket.

After completing his studies from Lucknow, he shifted to Bhopal city of Madhya Pradesh, and at the age of 16, he was selected in the team of Madhya Pradesh and made his debut in first-class cricket.

He received a son on 14 May 1994 in Bhopal itself, named Mihir Hirwani.

The fourth test of the West Indies tour of India, which was played from 11 to 15 January 1988 in Chennai, In this Test, Narendra Hirwani took 8 wickets of West Indies for 61 runs in the first innings and 8 wickets for 75 runs in the second innings, thus taking 16 wickets for 136 runs in the entire Test.

This is a record in the Test debut of a bowler in the world, which has not been broken to date.

Subhash Gupte’s career came to a fortuneless end in 1961 When a Test match was going on between India and England in Delhi, a controversy ensued outside the playground.

Subhash Gupte's fellow player and roommate AG Kripal Singh were accused of harassing the female employee of the hotel in which he stayed.
